Before the first messengers of spring sprout from the earth and the young birds begin to chirp, it gets cold again in February. All winter lovers can look forward to: The cold season will remain with us for a while!

And we, your hosts Katrin and Roland Steger, can already tell you one thing: The coming weeks will be varied in Saalbach and its surroundings!

STUNNING FREESTYLE PERFORMANCE

You still have until the beginning of March to attend the spectacular Freestyle Show Night live. It always takes place on Thursdays in Saalbach. In this top event, besides daring stunts by brave snowboarders and freeskiers, you can also admire pyrotechnics and fire shows.

ADRENALINE JUNKIES HAVE REASON TO REJOICE!

Who ever grabs the kick with all the freestyle action, this tip is of interest: How about swings in the untracked deep snow? Watch! Powdering off the slopes is life-threatening without avalanche science and appropriate equipment. For this reason, Golden Ride magazine offers a Freeride Girls Day including theory training and valuable practical tips from professionals. ENJOYABLE WEEKS IN THE REGION

If you get hungry for hearty food while skiing and snowboarding, you don’t have to look long in Saalbach-Hinterglemm and the surrounding area in February. The Snow & Beef Festival in the region is all about beef delicacies. But not just some steak, but only local quality meat with the AMA seal of approval. In addition to the ALTITUDE grill restaurant in Hinterglemm, the Breitfussalm at the Twelveer Kogel and the AlpenOase Sonnhof on the Hochalmbahn, numerous other catering companies are also taking part in the event.

MOUNTAINBIKER, WHICH IS IN THE SNOW

March 10, 2018 is all about freestyle. Not only with skis and on snowboards athletes show tricks of the extra class at the Glemmbang-Contest, but also bikers are at the start this year. Now it’s time to install winter tyres on a bike.

WORLD-CLASS FREERIDE COMPETITION RETURNS TO FIEBERBRUNN

At the Freeride World Tour from 9 to 15 March 2018, international freeriders plunge into a slope with a slope of around 70 degrees. Inconceivable almost, because at 90 degrees it would already mean free fall! On the public gallery at Lärchfilzkogel, built from snow, you have the best view of the daring descent. The whole spectacle rounds off the live broadcast on an oversized screen and a special supporting programme. May the bravest win!

THE LIFESTYLE EVENT OF THE YEAR

Towards the end of winter, from March 16 to April 1, 2018 to be precise, the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn will once again experience a special kind of vacation feeling. At the “White Pearl Mountain Days “, fans of cool music, live performances, international cuisine and health and fitness enthusiasts will get their money’s worth.

If you want to unwind from the hustle and bustle – cosy sun loungers are integrated into the alpine landscape everywhere. The varied programme takes place directly in the ski area and the huts and clubs in the region.

HIGH SPEEDS ON HOME PISTES

The Austrian Alpine Championships will take place in Hinterglemm from March 19 to 21, 2018. In the disciplines downhill and super-G, the local athletes spare nothing and no one. The right combination of speed, tactics and control is important. If you don’t want to miss this competition, you should come to the snow crystal descent at the Twelverkogel in Hinterglemm.
