Good (room) climate – inside and outside our house

At Hotel Barbarahof, sustainability is a matter of concern to us – you’ve probably already noticed that. We are on the way to the Austrian Eco-Label, which is awarded to sustainably operating companies. In addition, the entire Saalbach-Hinterglemm region has officially set out on the path to climate neutrality. We take this responsibility very seriously, which is why we have taken numerous measures to make our house more sustainable and climate-friendly. You can find out how this works here…

Winters in Saalbach can be quite frosty, but of course you still want to be cozy and warm in the sauna. In order to avoid CO2 emissions, our entire house has been heated with geothermal energy since 2008. Everything we serve comes from the shortest possible transportation routes and from local farmers and butchers that we know and trust. This guarantees maximum quality and freshness, but also a good conscience.

Our chambermaids clean well and with pleasure, and for the most part with environmentally friendly products and as few chemicals as possible. All of our employees are also housed right across the street from our building, which also makes the commute “green” and climate-friendly. But we have an excellent bus and ski shuttle connection and an e-car charging station right outside the door. If we have to make a major change in our house, we employ craftsmen from the region wherever possible and use regional materials and products.

You think that’s already quite a lot? There is more to come! Since the fall of 2021, we have been focusing particularly on the topic of indoor air purification. In ACTIVE COATING by MURSALLGROUP we have found a competent partner who has met our high expectations in the best possible way. All walls and window panes of our interiors (rooms, buffet and wellness area, ski cellar, entrance area…) were coated with Active Coating. When exposed to light (sun, but also artificial light), this material binds and decomposes fine dust, odors, allergens and pathogens, thus creating a healthier indoor climate with better breathing air.

Active Coating works through a chemical process called photocatalysis, which is scientifically proven and TÜV certified. Compared to conventional air filters, even much smaller particles can be destroyed. Active Coating is an extremely practical and sustainable technology, as no additional equipment needs to be installed, no electricity is consumed and no noise is generated. The air purification function is permanently active and of course the coating is completely invisible, even on the window panes!
