By car, we are easily accessible via the A10 Tauern motorway and the B311/B164. By train, travel to Zell am See station (approx. 19 km from the hotel). From there, you can take the Postbus 660 directly to Saalbach or a taxi shuttle (approx. 25–35 minutes travel time) to the hotel. The nearest airports are Salzburg (approx. 90 km) and Munich (approx. 200 km).

The local tax (Ortstaxe) is a legally required municipal levy of Saalbach Hinterglemm and is charged in addition to the room rate. The Alpine Superior Hotel Barbarahof Kaprun is an adults-only establishment run by the Mariacher family and is located approximately 30 km away. Yes. Hotel Barbarahof is a certified bike’n soul hotel and thus part of a verified group of bike hotels in Saalbach Hinterglemm. Hotel owner Roland Steger is a trained bike guide and knows every trail in the region personally. We offer guided tours, secure bike storage room, tools, washing area, and tips directly from the guide.

Saalbach Hinterglemm has a well-signposted trail network with difficulty levels ranging from blue (easy) to red (intermediate) and black (difficult). For beginners, we recommend the blue trails such as the Sky-Line or Panorama Line. Also the Hacklberg Trail (technically easy, well-built berms) or the Monti Line (a flowy introduction). Roland Steger, our in-house bike guide, will be happy to recommend a route that suits your level before your first tour.

Yes. We rent e-mountain bikes directly on-site. Prices and availability upon request. Downhill bikes, road bikes, and children’s bikes can be reserved in advance with our partners, e.g. bike´n Soul — pick-up and return are straightforward. Easily accessible are the 12er-KOGEL and the Spielberghaus circular trail (family-friendly), the Schattberg loop with panoramic views, or beautiful tours at the end of the valley. For ambitious hikers, we recommend the Seven Summits Tour with overnight accommodation in mountain huts. At reception you will find current trail maps and we are happy to provide personal tips.

The Joker Card is the summer guest card for Saalbach Hinterglemm and is included free of charge with your stay at Hotel Barbarahof (during the summer season from 06.06. to 20.09.2026). You will receive the card directly at check-in and can use it for free access to all mountain lifts in Saalbach Hinterglemm, the “Käptn Hook” swimming pool, the weekly activity program, and many other services.

With the Joker Card, you can enjoy, among other things: all summer mountain lifts in Saalbach Hinterglemm (e.g., Schattbergbahn, Reiterkogelbahn, Kohlmaisbahn, Zwölferkogel), the hiking bus, the adventure pool, guided hikes, yoga classes, child-friendly activity programs, and selected admissions in the surrounding area. We offer family rooms for 3 to 5 people — depending on the category, these feature separate sleeping areas or connecting doors between two rooms. We are happy to provide baby cots free of charge; children’s beds are usually already included in the family categories. Please specify the exact configuration when inquiring (age and number of children), and we will recommend the most suitable option for you.

We currently do not offer fixed childcare at the hotel. However, the tourist board’s weekly programme includes supervised children’s activities several times a week (alpine pasture visits, bike courses, creative workshops, swimming), which are free of charge for hotel guests with the Joker Card.

Yes. Access to our sauna area, featuring a Finnish sauna, organic sauna, steam bath, and relaxation area, is free of charge for all hotel guests and part of the inclusive package. The nearest access to the Skicircus — the Reiterkogelbahn or the Schattberg-X-Press — can be reached from Hotel Barbarahof in just a few minutes using the free ski bus. The ski bus stops directly in front of the hotel and is free to use with your ski pass.

Just a short walk from Hotel Barbarahof, you will find several ski rental partners (including Intersport and Sport 2000) as well as the Snow Academy Saalbach ski school. Saalbach Hinterglemm has been part of the worldwide Epic Pass since the 2025 season. With an Epic Pass, you not only have access to the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn but also to numerous other ski resorts in the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, and Europe. Ski passes (day passes, multi-day passes, season passes) are available directly and conveniently at the hotel reception — no need to queue at the ticket office. The Skicircus boasts 270 km of perfectly groomed slopes and around 70 lifts. Slopes of all difficulty levels — from blue for beginners and red for intermediates to black for experts — are seamlessly connected, allowing you to explore the entire area without ever taking off your skis. 90 percent of the slopes in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn are artificially snowed — thanks to a state-of-the-art snowmaking system, the season from early December to early April is reliably guaranteed even in mild winters.

There is no ski slope that ends directly at the hotel—but you can reach the nearest valley run in just a few minutes on foot or by the free ski bus. We are considered a well-located ski hotel in the valley, with short distances to the Reiterkogelbahn and Schattbergbahn.

Yes. Hotel owner Roland Steger is a certified sommelier and hosts exclusive wine tastings for in-house guests year-round—especially in winter. It is hard to find a more sociable way to round off a day on the slopes. Please see the weekly programme for dates or ask at reception.

For the 2026/27 winter season, we are planning various packages – from Christmas getaways, ski opening events, family ski weeks, and ski weekends to high-season specials and the season finale in April. The current package overview will be available on our website from autumn 2026 or can be requested directly.

The winter season at Hotel Barbarahof traditionally begins with the ski opening in early December and ends around Easter. The exact start and end dates for the 2026/27 season will be finalized in summer 2026 and published on the website.

Hotel Barbarahof is your base in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn with Zell am See and the Kaprun glacier area — one of the largest interconnected ski areas in Austria. You can access the entire area with just one ski pass.

Yes. Every Thursday, our guests enjoy a relaxed, sociable après-ski afternoon in the garden. Otherwise, we place great value on a calm evening atmosphere at our hotel—you will not find rowdy chalet partying with us. Saalbach Hinterglemm is, however, known as an après-ski hotspot: well-known venues such as the Hinterhag Alm, the Goaßstall or the Bauer’s Schi-Alm are just a few minutes from the hotel.
